Providing help and advice at Mobility Scooter Training Day

Our road safety team took part in a mobility scooter training day at Agecroft Fire Station.

The team were on hand to offer advice to help improve the confidence of residents that already use scooters or who were looking to start.

As well as our team providing a helping hand, IAM Road Smart were promoting advance driver courses, Specsavers were there to provide free hearing tests and Greater Manchester Fire handed out winter warmer packs for elderly residents.

The training day promoted a real sense of community spirit. A resident said: “The event helped me feel a lot safety and confident on a scooter. I now feel I have the skills to get out and about”.

Thanks to the success of this year’s event, all organisations involved are keen to put on another training day in 2019.

Helping the local community is at the forefront of our agenda. Since 2017, our road safety team have been involved in a project with Age UK  to help make Salford an age-friendly city.

Staff attend local community meetings discussing issues with transport and mobility. Local residents have been so pleased with the help received from our road safety team that one staff member was given flowers and a lot of high praise.

Well done to the road safety team for their continued efforts within the community!
