As a key strategic partner of Salford City Council we align our activities to the Council’s Vision ‘A better and fairer Salford’,  social value is at the heart of what we do.

Employee volunteering

Our volunteering work across Salford continues to gather pace and to date we have donated more than 1000 hours of community volunteering to projects across the city. We work with a variety of organisations such as Wood Street Mission, St Ann’s Hospice, the Bridgewater Canal Project, Salford Business Education Partnership and the Alun Henning Memorial.

Our volunteering commitment to local causes will continue throughout 2017. There are currently 37,000 volunteers across Salford and Urban Vision will be looking to target our volunteering activity to Salford based projects which actively support anti poverty and homelessness such as The Mustard Tree, Emmaus, Salford 4 Good, Emmaus and Salford Central Food Bank.

Community fundraising    

We are committed to supporting local charities through our annual charity of the year initiative.

This initiative was launched back in 2008 and provides us with the opportunity to establish a mutually beneficial partnership, using our skills to benefit a local charity and raise awareness of their work, as well as raising money through fundraising and corporate support.

Charities that have benefited from our support over the past seven years include St Ann’s Hospice, The Christie Charitable Fund, Kidscan, Wood Street Mission and Salford Loaves and Fishes.

We are delighted to have raised over £40,000 through staff fundraising activities since 2008 and are exceptionally proud of both the commitment shown by our employees and our involvement with such inspirational causes.

Our 2017 charity partner is Sam’s Gift, a local charity who supports teenagers and young adults dealing with cancer by helping them through the difficult times which may lie ahead of them.

Apprenticeships

We actively recruit and develop apprentices as they are a valuable part of our workforce and the future of our company. An apprenticeship is an exciting way for a young person to begin their career journey and many of our apprentices continue on to study for a HNC/D or degree in their chosen discipline and become a fully qualified professional. Each year we recruit a number of apprentices in a number of areas including Civil Engineering, Business Administration and Construction Management. We support our apprentices to achieve national academic and professional qualifications as well as providing valuable hands on experience on real, live projects.

Learning and Development

The success of our business lies with our people. We recognise that everyone has different needs, objectives and aspirations so offer a variety of opportunities for our employees to develop technical, professional and personal skills throughout their career.  We provide an environment that encourages staff to use the skills they have, create opportunities to learn and to develop as an individual. Our ability to satisfy our clients rests on the skills of our people and we use a variety of methods to support this process including mandatory, on the job, mentoring, professional development / CPD and classroom based training.
