New plans for cycling, walking and improved vehicular capacity on Trafford Road

Exciting new plans for cycling, walking and improvements to vehicular capacity on Trafford Road have been completed, with feasibility design work finalised by our Highway Engineers.

The scheme on Trafford Road has been designed to support the continuing growth of Salford Quays and MediaCityUK by delivering improvements such as updated pedestrian facilities and enhanced cycling amenities.

Proposals to support access to the Quays, collaboratively developed by Urban Vision, Salford City Council and Transport for Greater Manchester introduce improvements at signalised junctions and additional traffic lanes to assist turning traffic. The scheme will also include SMART infrastructure at bus and Metrolink stops, where possible.

The works, due to start in July 2020, will feature one mile of new cycle track, six upgraded signalised junctions where pedestrians are protected from motor traffic and eight bus stop bypasses.

Urban Vision will be providing Highway Design, Urban Realm Design, Quantity Surveying, CDM Principal Design services, Business Case support, Road Safety Audits, Traffic Regulation Orders and Street Lighting Design.

This exciting scheme is due to be completed in December 2021.

Congratulations to our Highway Engineers for all the work they have so far put into the Trafford Road proposals – we’re looking forward to seeing the end result!
