A group of Urban Vision staff members took part in a volunteering day at Bridgewater Canal in order to help with preparations for the Bridgewater Weekender on 8th July – an annual event of entertainment, family fun, heritage and crafts.
The volunteering day involved members of staff getting their hands dirty by maintaining and improving the natural environment in time for guests of the festival to arrive the following week.
This included grass raking to prevent fire hazards, removing Himalayan Balsam plants from pathways and overgrown areas (an invasive species that grows densely and in place of native plants), putting woodchip around the interpretations and benches on the site, preparing materials for den building and litter picking.
Thank you to the five staff members that took part in volunteering and helping towards making Bridgewater Weekender a great success.
