Central Salford Planning Application Approved

Urban Vision has achieved major success through guiding and approving one of the largest planning applications ever dealt with by Salford City Council at the Planning and Transportation Regulatory Panel meeting, on 21st January 2010.

Covering an area of 17.744ha, equivalent to 21 international football pitches, the proposed development in Central Salford includes 849 new homes, 390 room hotel, 24,000 square metres of retail, food, drink and entertainment space and 197,000 square metres of office space. Highway Improvements, new pedestrian and cycle routes are also included in the approved plans.

A new square, St Johns Place, will also be built to maximise the view of the newly renovated Salford Cathedral.  A new Commercial Quarter will make the most of Salford’s strategic location next to Spinningfields and the corporate heart of Manchester.

The scheme is key to the comprehensive and transformational regeneration of Salford Central and embodies several years of policy formation by the City Council.  Urban Vision have worked closely with the English Cities Fund and the Central Salford Urban Regeneration Company as well as Salford City Council in successfully processing the application and resolving the majority of objections received to the proposals.  Urban Vision’s work has been praised by both the URC and Salford City Council.
