SIMPLE STEPS SAVE LIVES AT URBAN VISION

Salford based property, planning and highways specialist Urban Vision has partnered with ethical water cooler company, AquAid, to raise funds for a well installation project in Zimbabwe.

By selecting AquAid as the water supplier for Urban Vision and Salford City Council, the cooler company, in partnership with the charity, Pump Aid, has been able to install a well in the Manicaland province of Zimbabwe, providing clean water for up to 500 people.

The move by Urban Vision’s facilities management team to specify AquAid as its water supplier is representative of the company’s commitment to careful supplier selection, as Danny Hoy, facilities manager, explains: “Urban Vision’s entire ethos is about improving local communities, so if we can assist a local community several thousand miles away simply by partnering with an ethical water cooler provider, then our arrangement with AquAid is a natural step. It’s great to know that a simple decision like this can help ensure that destitute people have the potential to become self sufficient and to avoid the water borne diseases that claim so many lives.”

Each well delivered by Pump Aid takes approximately four months to construct, with each village educated in maintaining their well over the long term. Over 1.2billion people worldwide are still without access to fresh water and consequently more than three million die each year from water borne diseases. Over 750,000 people have so far been assisted with support from partnership arrangements like that between Urban Vision and AquAid.
