Road safety
With a primary responsibility to reduce road casualties, Urban Vision’s Road Casualty Safety group, comprising of both the casualty reduction and road safety education teams, provides an important and comprehensive road safety service. On behalf of the Salford City Council, the team offers a combination of engineering, education and enforcement (the 3Es). As well as carrying out community awareness campaigns, such as those targeting car sharing and child car seats, the team provides traffic education training and crossing patrol services for schools, manages publicity campaigns supporting regional and national safety initiatives, and delivers programmes such as Salford Safer Cycling and Practical Pedestrian training including Streets Ahead. We develop school and work place travel plans and also work in partnership with community groups to reduce road traffic collisions on the highways, through the delivery of key traffic calming schemes and improvements such as:
- Langworthy Road – area wide traffic calming scheme
- Barton Lane – pedestrian improvement scheme
- Greenleach Lane – speed management measures
- Secondary Schools – city wide provision of cycle shelters
