Under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007, the role of Planning Supervisor has been replaced by that of CDM Coordinator. The main responsibility under this role is to facilitate communication, coordination and cooperation prior to the construction phase and during any subsequent or ongoing design changes. This ensures the health and safety of construction operations and the fulfilment of any duties falling to the client during the construction project.
Useful Tools:
CDM Notifiable Project Calculator
CDM Competency Assessment Questionnaire
Notes For Use : CDM Notifiable Project Calculator:
Tool A( Working days) is a simple 30 day calculator to help schools identify if a project is notifiable.
Use the 30 Day Worksheet to establish if the project is over or under the CDM notifiable threshold by typing in the working days over the planned construction period. Care is required when assessing overtime or weekend working. For example, a 6 week project is normally 30 days but a 4 or 5 week project may be notifiable if significant overtime or weekend work is planned. Equally, a 7 or 8 week project may not be notifiable if some of the weeks are less than a 5 day working week.
Tool B ( Man Hours) is for a more detailed analysis and is intended to be used by the Project Team, as this requires more knowledge of the projected workforce.
Please Note: This calculator does not substitute advice from a CDM but does provide initial guidance.
Notes For Use : Competency Assessment Questionnaire:
The blank excel Questionnaire is based on HSE Appendix 4 Criteria. In order to prove competence, Clients should issue to their Designers, CDMC and Contractors.Competence checks are required on non notifiable projects.
The Designer, CDMC and Contractor submitting the questionnaire should supplement with relevant documents (eg) H&S policy, CVs etc.
