Building Control

The main function of the Building Control service is to process applications on behalf of our clients and ensure that building works meet the requirements of building regulations. We make sure our clients’ projects comply with construction standards, maintain a safe and healthy environment, operate in an energy efficient manner and provide access and facilities for disabled users.  

We also undertake a number of complementary building related functions, including:

• Inspecting work under construction
• Working with design teams to provide compliant and acceptable developments
• Partnering with developers and architects on nationwide developments
• Assessing carbon emissions associated with the refurbishment and construction of buildings
• Controlling public and private sector building demolitions
• Dealing with dangerous buildings, including a 24hour call-out service
• Ensuring that open and derelict buildings are secured and safe
• Providing specific building security services within city regeneration areas
• Advising licensing authorities and departments on escape plans and other safety requirements for licensed premises and events

Through our strong customer focus, the Building Control team helps clients to take care of compliance with building regulations and associated legislation to successfully complete their building projects.
